Prescribing the next step for the time-starved golfer.

My name is Allan MacDonald, but you can call me Dr Geek – your golf-fixated physician friend.

By Day I’m a mild-mannered physician.

By Night I’m a card carrying golf geek, dedicated to helping the time-starved golfer find the most efficient route to improvement.

My background may be medical, but I have a skill set that reaches far beyond the medical sphere. I’m a teacher, a counsellor and a writer. I’m naturally psychologically minded, and my professional field overlaps significantly with psychiatry. My training in data interpretation means I’m is ideally placed to recognise what is truly scientific and what is gobbledygook in a white coat.

In short, I have a unique viewpoint, and not in some airy-fairy “everybody is special” way. I’m using my skills and my passion for golf to cut through the waffle and find what works.

Care to join me?

Should you decide to stroll down the path to the practice tee with Dr Geek, you can expect me to:

  • explore golf and golf instruction from a medical perspective

  • avoid jargon

  • provide an open-minded approach

  • focus on golf performance as a whole

  • strive for effective and efficient practice

  • challenge assumptions

  • be transparent; any affiliate links will be clearly labelled

I won’t:

  • lecture you on your less-than-healthy habits; your own doctor gets paid to do this!

  • provide any specific personal medical advice

  • hide behind pseudo-science. If I don’t know I’ll say so…and then do my utmost to find out for you.

  • tell you your swing is “broken” and needs to be “fixed”

  • pretend you can “buy” golf improvement with some shiny new  equipment

  • recommend anything I don’t believe in

  • share your contact details with anyone  else
